Steering Committee Meeting Minutes from May 15, 2006
Call to Order: 7:00PM
Members Present: Bob Morrow, Darryl & Peggy Paden, Pat Silagy Wesson, Bob Fay, Jen Golden, Rachel Korzan, Gus Pirovolos, Tim & Jackie Hisrich, Rick Miller, Anne Efermoff, Steve & Tammy Lamiell, Linda Cook, Cindy & Greg Hofacre, Marie Malemee, Ron & Dionne Hight
Excused Absences: Rosemary Norton, SueZanne Artzner, Michelle Trbovich, Marilyn Poulos, Emil Alecusan
Minutes Approved: Motion to approve meeting minutes for March 20, 2006 made by Bob Morrow and Tim Hisrich
1st Vice President’s Report: given by Darryl Paden
- Memberships fees paid for 2006 is at $5,157.00
- Darryl passed out paid membership cards to area coordinators
- 190 households have paid
- Discussion was made to publish in newsletter that only paid members will receive newsletters; none paid members will only receive application to become a member of Market Heights Association
- Motion to approve report made by Pat Silagy Wesson and Gus Pirovolos
2nd Vice President’s Report: given by Pat Silagy Wesson
- Reports of Crime this month are up from last 2 months
- Motion to approve report made by Bob Morrow and Rick Miller; all in favor
Treasurer’s Report: given by Bob Fay
- Membership dues are at $4,200.00: $524.00 given for Security; $437.00 given for general donations
- Stark County Grant received in the amount of $13,000.00 in April 2006
- Total Expenses for this year are $1,281.00 ($38 Garage Sales, $488 printing and newsletter, $212 Flag, $48 general supplies, $105 Rent to Jewish Center, $390 postage
- Motion to approve report made by Bob Morrow and Rick Miller; all in favor
Old Business:
- Bob Morrow and Rick Miller still waiting on all information to put together Neighborhood Directory
- Tom is taking care of islands that where landscaped earlier this spring
- Bob Morrow will survey the work needed around the flag pole and in the park; volunteers may be recruited at next meeting in July to help clean up and haul away brush and debris
- A price of $50,000.00 was given to Bob Morrow to rip up and put in new tennis courts, new fencing, netting and sound proof back board
New Business
- Motion made to temporaily closed road that goes through park on Harvard Ave by Bob Morrow and Darryl Paden; all in favor
- Suggestion was made by Canton City of Engineers to close road; Engineers where out surveying to have sidewalks put in and witnessed a close call with small children crossing street and almost being hit by on coming car
- Concrete poles will be put up to temporaily close road and a number will be posted for people to call with any feedback
- If road is closed in the park, city will remove concrete at no cost
- Area will be landscaped after road is torn up
- Motion to approve killing vegetation, seeding hill and curbing islands by September 2006 was made by Bob Morrow and Gus Pirovolos; approved by all but apposed by Bob Fay and Darryl Paden
- Motion made to have NO Hall of Fame Security by Bob Morrow and Rick Miller; all in favor
- Cindy Hofacre will check on pricing for portolet for full time verses just for Party in the Park
- October 19, 2006 there will be a Meet the Candidates Event at the Memorial Civic Center from 5:30PM-9:00PM; we will have our own booth and in charge of decorating it accordingly; setup is at 4:30PM; those who wish to participate need to contact Bob Morrow in order to receive a shirt for the event
