Steering Committee Meeting Minutes from May 16, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Bob Morrow, 2nd Vice President. The Invocation was given by Rachel Korzan. In attendance: Bob Fay, James Golden, Rachel Korzan, Rick Miller, Bob Morrow, Krysten Neal, Laura Sampsel, and Pat Silagy-Wesson.  Excused were:  Emil Alecusan, Darryl and Peggy Paden, and Mike Zelle.

Secretary's Report:

Minutes from the March 21, 2005 Steering Committee were read and placed on the website for the neighborhood.  Motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting were made by Bob Fay and 2nd was made by Bob Morrow.

1st Vice President:

Laura Sampsel report as of the date, May 16, 2005, 148 neighbors in Market Heights were paid members of MHNA; last year at this time 226 were paid members of MHNA.  We have seen more donations this year than in previous years.

An updated copy of the data MHNA uses for all the homes in our area needs to get to James Golden and Laura Sampsel, so that names, addresses, paid and unpaid members are accounted for.  We are missing people with and without the newsletter and having the CD would be helpful to not only keep track of people moving in or out of the neighborhood but, an address label could be printed out to send the newsletters, membership forms, fliers for garage sales, etc.

2nd Vice President:

Bob Morrow reported that the information regarding Sexual Offenders in your neighborhood has changed.  It now comes on a large sized postcard.  Also, he handed out the activity report going on in our neighborhood from January until April 30, 2005.  In the amount of thefts/burglaries there was a total of one incident.  Most incidents that were reported were traffic accidents, second highest were Alarms going off.  These incidents were reported to the police and are on file.

Treasurer's Report:

An overall view of the MHNA accounts were given by Bob Fay. Three reports were handed out and explanations of the Revenue and Expenses were given.

Total Expenses for 2005 thus far has been $2,250.00.  Total Revenue has been $5983.00.

Motion to accept the Treasurer's Reports were made by Bob Morrow and 2nd was by Krysten Neal.  Also, the 501C3 has been received.

Old Business:

The Garage Sale for spring was in April.  Again, people wanted to use and have a copy of the Maps.  The signs were a wonderful addition to the Sale.  Even though the signs were up to guide shoppers, they still wanted the maps to see where they were at and where they were going.   There will be a Neighborhood Fall Sale.

The Community Block Party will be held on September 10, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Cindy Hofacre is the one to report to for Volunteering for the festivities or even give her a few ideas.  Also, there will be Security patrolling during the Hall of Fame Festivities this year; it will run from July 29 thru August 8, 2005.

New Business:

Neighbors along Market Ave. were approached by a Realtor going door to door asking for support to build on the 30th Street/Market Ave. lot.  One neighbor that was approached told the Realtor they would not support the development of the lot for Commercial use.   Mike Zelle talked with Rick Zengler and was told that no one has come forth to re-apply for a Zoning change.   Mr. Zengler suggested that MHNA call or write their councilperson to stop the Realty Company from pursuing it.  Bob Fay suggested that we write Remaxx Realty another letter and that we may need to make another appearance at a City Council Meeting.  It's been quite awhile, but it's time to re-assert our position to the future of the corner lot on 30th St. and Market Ave.

Our next meeting will by July 18, 2005 @ 7 p.m.
Our meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. by Bob Morrow, motion carried.
