Steering Committee Meeting Minutes from July 17, 2007
Call to order: 6:38 PM
Members Present: Bob Fay, Jen Golden, Rich Hart, Emil Alecusan, Steve & Sue Moroney, Brian Garsna, Gus Pirovolos, Dick Ross, Eric Waldrop, James Athens, John Cronin, Frank Jones, Kathy Tabellion, Sam Dorto, Clayton Bromly, Bill Smuckler, Tammy Lamiell, Mary Carvilli, Marilyn Poulos,Rachel Korzan, Lyn Milnes, Pat Silagy-Wesson,Sandy Zorn, Cynthia Hofacre, Tim Hisrich, Darryl & Peggy Paden
Old Business:
- East Harvard road closure at park; update was given by city engineer Dan Moeglin; road will be reopened at end as of July 23rd; will be reopened due to 15 people in area surrounding the park that do not want to road to be closed;
- Dan will be present at a future meeting to control speeding in the neighborhood
1st Vice President’s Report: given by Darryl Paden
- Total of 161 members; average is down by 45 members due to newsletter being delayed
2nd Vice President’s Report: Crime Report given by Pat Silagy Wesson
- Total calls for May 2007=26 (2 Thefts and 1 Breaking and Entering)
- Total calls for June 2007=15 (1Theft and 1 Breaking and Entering)
Treasurer’s Report: given by Lyn Milnes
- Total Revenue for 2007=$6930.00
- Expenses for 2006=$2084.40
- Revenue over expenses=$4,845.60
New Business:
- At 30th Street and Market lots have been rezoned for a 5/3RD Bank; It has been approved by Planning Commission and is being voted upon on July 23rd to be voted out of Judiciary Committee; Joe Carbenia (W-9) is in favor of the change;Thanks goes to Rich Hart for making our neighborhood aware of this vote that was happening without our knowledge
- August 6th at 7pm in Canton a public meeting will be held for council to vote; 9 votes are needed out rule this request; we will all need to come together as a community and be present as well as having speakers from neighborhood to voice our opinions in order to have this voted down
- Postcards will be sent on July 24th to invite all neighbors to council meeting on August 6th
- Motion was made on behalf of Market Heights Association that we are opposed to the zone change and will have a plan in place to fill the land on the corner of Market and 30th Street; motion made by Jen Golden and Gus Pirovolos
- Party In The Park will be held on August 24, 2007 at 8pm; we will be paying $200 for insurance policy for party in the park;in order to waive insurance policy in the future, this event would only be open to paid members only (something to consider at a later date); McDonalds orange drink, tea, and popcorn will be provided along with snacks brought by neighbors; Jen Golden will be handling Door Prizes
